The octagonal shape keeps a large portion of the panel exposed to sunlight throughout most of the day, smoothing the charging curve without requiring any tracking device. Rain and snow naturally slide off the vertical surfaces, minimizing manual cleaning. Wrapped around the pole, the module experiences less wind uplift than flat panel alternatives, reducing stress on brackets and mounts.
